Dr. Asimina Balaskonis is a board-certified podiatric physician who treats a plethora of Foot and Ankle ailments. Dr. Balaskonis is one of few podiatrists in NYC who specializes in podopediatrics (foot problems in infants and kids). Dr. Balaskonis treats many congenital conditions that children are born with that affect their gait, feet, and legs.
Her goal when treating all her patients is to educate and inform them on their condition and advise them on all available treatment options so they can make an informed decision. With compassion to all patients, she strives to improve the quality of their lives by helping reduce their pain and restoring function.
Her aim is to help patients return to their active lifestyles as quickly as possible.
Dr. Balaskonis truly believes in exhausting all conservative treatment options whenever possible before proceeding to surgery.
She is abreast on many nonsurgical treatment approaches such as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, Musculoskeletal Laser Therapy, PRP, and Regenerative Medicine to solve a variety of foot and ankle problems.
Dr. Balaskonis graduated from New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed her residency training in Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Balaskonis is Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine, Diplomate of The American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Balaskonis is Board Qualified in both Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery by The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
During her free time Dr. Balaskonis loves spending time with her family and three little kids. She also enjoys traveling whenever possible and exploring vibrant, ethnic restaurants throughout NYC.
